A warm and engaging teacher, Kat has been teaching yoga since 2008 in Melbourne and Brisbane. She finds great joy in sharing this transformative practice that is yoga and in witnessing her students growing awareness of their body, breath and inner life, and feeling more vitally alive as a result of their practice.
Kat practices and teaches alignment-based vinyasa yoga classes. She enjoys the strength, spaciousness and aliveness that she experiences with this mindful and fluid practice. Kat’s classes include fluid yet slow paced asana sequences with alignment-based cues where you are invited to move with your breath. The pace allows you to observe, feel, find stability and space in your body and cultivate presence. Kat’s classes also include floor postures to release areas that need it the most, the practice of pranayama, and a guided meditation in some of the classes.
Mother of a vibrant 3 years old and trained prenatal teacher, Kat also teaches prenatal yoga and offers active birth workshops for couples. Kat also taught Yin yoga in Brisbane. The practice of deep presence guides her daily life and teaching.
Kat first discovered yoga in the late 90’s as a highly committed university student seeking equilibrium. She found in yoga an empowering practice that brings life to body, heart and mind, and a path towards greater clarity and authenticity. Curious and passionate about yoga, Kat studied yoga in Canada, attended Vipassana retreats and, in 2007, undertook a 2 years Advanced Diploma of Yoga teaching. Some of the further trainings she completed include Anusara Yoga immersions with Julie Smerdon, Yin Yoga and anatomy training with Jo Barnett, Anatomy and therapy training with Martin Kirk, and Yoga therapy with Tamara James at Yoga Physio. Kat continues to expand her knowledge of yoga and practice under the guidance of senior teachers. She is a registered teacher with Yoga Australia.
Kat also enjoys being in nature and cooking whole food.
