There always seems to be a sense of urgency as we head towards the end of the year. There is the usual busi-ness and additional social engagements and end of year celebrations. Is that the case for you? Generally, my self care regime flies out the window in the effort to keep the show going. However, this year, I decided that was not going to work for me. At the end of Oct I wrote down what was important to me during this time.
My SANITY intact was number 1 and seeing friends was No.2. So I had a casual get together last weekend at my place sans chrissie decorations. A few questions were asked about the absence of decorations, my response was to the effect that it was not a priority. Eyebrows went up and then down and life went on and we had a good night. The main thing was there was no shame or guilt on my part as I honored myself in the process and I am still sane!
Be kind and gentle with yourself as you ease yourself into this festive season! Great practice of ahimsa – love and kindness to all.
(By the way, the chrissie decorations did go up on Sunday, thanks to my beautiful daughter).
Being the last newsletter for the year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of your for making 2014 a successful year at Reconnect Yoga. Here are some highlights of the year (not in any order) at the studio.
Reconnect Yoga as a Learning hub
We had our first workshop at the studio this year. Starting with Trevor Aung Than’s Workshop and ending with the recent Wu Tao Course. This abode well for 2015 as Trevor will be back in Feb and my long time mentor Clare Raffety will be presenting two yoga workshops too. Workshop with other modalities will also be offered next year. Watch this space!
Our teachers and a couple of other studio owners have also started coming together at Reconnect Yoga each month to share learning and assist in each others professional development.
Reconnect Yoga giving back to Community
“YUM CHA FOR THE SOUL” and our foodbank collection for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre has been one of the more heart opening moments for me this year. Your generosity and compassion blows my mind away! THANK YOU THANK YOU from the depth of my heart.
Reconnect Yoga will be hosting “Off The mat” first Movie, Munch and MIngle in Melbourne on the 6th Feb. More info out soon.
Reconnect Yoga bringing more Relaxation
Most of you know that my favourite part of teaching is tucking students into their relaxation pose. This is because I have been the benefactor of relaxation and have experience the insights and equanimity that it can bring. I have a personal goal of bringing more of the much needed relaxation into the wider community. It was pivotal this year to offer the every first iRest Yoga Nidra course and now a monthly practice session. Secondly, the number of Restore & renew classes has increased. NEXT RESTORE & RENEW is on Friday, 19th Dec @ 6:30-8pm. More deep rest opportunities will be available in 2015.
Reconnect Yoga Community
Of course, gratitude to all of you who have committed yourself to coming to classes. Reconnect Yoga would not exist otherwise.
HAVE A SAFE AND JOYOUS HOLIDAY SEASON.
